What is it like to be a Newhouse NYC Student? Follow Along on Twitter!
On Wednesday, October 22 and Sunday, October 26, Newhouse NYC students are taking over the @NewhouseNYC Twitter handle again to give you a behind-the-scenes look of what their days are like in New York City this semester.
On Wednesday, October 22, MAG junior Kaitlyn Frey will post about her life in NYC and as an editorial intern at Cosmopolitan.com. She’s already written six stories for the site (read them here)! And on Sunday, October 26, senior ADV student and Sunshine Sachs intern Lydia Chen will live-tweet what an average weekend is like for a Newhouse NYC student–we have a feeling brunch will be involved.
Follow along all day next Wednesday and Sunday, and if you have any questions about Newhouse NYC, ask them! Just tweet your Q at the @NewhouseNYC handle.
And so you get to know them a bit before they start tweeting, here’s a crash course on Kaitlyn and Lydia:
NAME: Kaitlyn Frey
YEAR: Junior (Spring 2016)
FROM: Westfield, NJ
BEST PART OF NYC SO FAR: Definitely trying out all the different food spots around the city and getting to know all the amazing Newhouse alumni in NYC .
MOST DELICIOUS THING I’VE EATEN IN NYC: I’ve eaten a lot of really good bagels, but the bagels at Bagel Express on 94th & 2nd are by far the best I’ve ever had. The egg and cheese on an everything bagel is my go-to breakfast sandwich.
FAVORITE NEWHOUSE NYC SPEAKER SO FAR AND WHY: Julie Mendez from Tractenberg & Co. Even though I’m a MAG major and Julie works in beauty PR, her job seems so cool and interesting (and she also brought us some sample beauty products!).
NAME: Xuening Lydia Chen
YEAR: Senior (Spring 2015)
MAJOR: Advertising; IM&T
INTERNSHIP: Sunshine Sachs
FROM: Xinjiang, China
BEST PART OF NYC SO FAR: The countless opportunities to meet awesome people, experience interesting activities, and enjoy delicious food.
MOST DELICIOUS THING I’VE EATEN IN NYC: I have been making an effort to not eat at the same place twice this semester. So far I have loved every place I’ve gone to and been wanting to revisit. But if I had to pick one, it would be the cheesecake from Parlor Steak House.
FAVORITE NEWHOUSE NYC SPEAKER SO FAR AND WHY: I’ve learned a lot from every single one of the speakers and panelists we have met. One of my favorites is Mark Luckie, the Managager of Journalism and News from Twitter. We got to see the exclusive Twitter analytics system, learned how to maximum Twitter for both personal and professional use and received great career advice!
