Week Two of Newhouse NYC was Pretty Amazing…

One of the best parts of Newhouse NYC is getting to meet such incredibly talented and generous alumni. And this week was jam-packed with orange pride in the big apple.

On Tuesday night, students in the Social Platforms, Processes and Perspectives class heard from‘s managing editor (and magazine alumna), Alie Martell and senior community manager, Elisa Benson. They shared incredible insights about distinguishing a brand voice on social, as well as tips and tricks to grow a company’s followers and increase engagement.

On Wednesday, students from Danyel Smith’s Race, Gender and the Media class went on a field trip to TBWA to hear from chief diversity officer, North America (and Syracuse alumnus) Doug Melville. It was such a treat to hear from such an inspirational graduate of the school.
And last night, students got some of the best internship advice they could ever hear from some of the nicest people in the business:
Jason Horowitz, Studio Host, Westwood One (BDJ, 05)
Naomi Zinner, Creative Marketing, Sunshine Sachs  (ADV, 05)
Molly Gallagher, Associate Editor, Well + Good (MAG, 11)
Tyler Gilden, Creative Director, (TRF, 11)
Megan Corbet, Account Executive, Edelman (PR, 13)

All five took the time after the panel to meet one-on-one with the students in their respective majors which was so kind of them, especially after a long day at work!

Thank you to everyone who made this week such a memorable one.
