What We Learned at Bloomberg HQ
On Thursday, October 8, the Newhouse NYC students had the opportunity to visit one of New York City’s most iconic offices: Bloomberg. If there is one word that describes the office space, it’s transparency. With glass conference rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and an open layout, Bloomberg is the perfect place for collaboration. Fun fact: the curved building is the only building in Manhattan where you can see directly across, into to the other side! In addition to creating transparency, the open feel of Bloomberg also contributes to the company’s sense of unity, something important for a large global entity.
After the tour of Bloomberg’s beautiful office space, we got to sit down with some talented staffers from various departments. We loved how they all spoke so highly of the company culture at Bloomberg. As Newhouse alumnus Chuck Stevens said, “There are a lot of impressive resumes in this building, but when you walk through the door, it doesn’t matter. If you work here, you belong here.”
Thank you to Arie Shapira, Chuck Stevens, Courtney Collins, and Michael Lysak for all of your advice!
