#NewhouseNYCChat: Hear Insights from ESPN’s Director of PR Keri Potts on March 30

Morie blog postThroughout the semester at Newhouse in NYC, students in the COM 400 Social Platforms, Processes and Perspectives class will get the chance to interview accomplished Newhouse alumni in a live Twitterview. Keri Potts attended Syracuse University as an undergraduate student in 1995, graduated in 1998 one year ahead magna cum laude. She earned a bachelor’s degree in magazine journalism and a master’s degree in public relations and organizational management, both from the Newhouse school. Keri was an outstanding college athlete in volleyball, and she was actively involved in SU’s athletic department in general. During her time at Syracuse, she combined her Newhouse education with her passion for sports, which led to a wonderful career that combines the two later on.

Today, Keri is the senior Director of Public Relations for college sports at ESPN, where she coordinates and guides the strategic communications around all college sports events. Originally from New York, she is now based in Atlanta. Besides working at ESPN, she also volunteers as a rape crisis counselor at Atlanta’s Grady Hospital and is a national speaker on victims’ advocacy and anti-sexual violence.

In 2011, Potts was among 40 Newhouse graduates inducted into the Professional Portrait Gallery.

On Wednesday, March 30th at 8:30 pm EST, PR junior Tiange Dong and senior Chelsea Ferguson will interview Keri on Twitter. Feel free to get involved by responding and retweeting: tweet us at @NewhouseNYC using the hashtag #NewhouseNYCChat if you have any questions for Keri. And please follow @NewhouseNYC and @Keri Potts on Twitter to see all the action take place.
